Negotiations on a “phase 3” stimulus package are continuing in Congress today. We need you to reach out to our U.S. Senators TODAY to urge them to support measures that will help safeguard Jewish community delivery of social and communal services at this very perilous time.

I am calling as a member of the Jewish community because I am concerned about the viability of the nonprofit sector and the most vulnerable among us. Please pass a stimulus package this week that includes: 1) Allowing all public charities to participate in the Small Business Loan program including Jewish family service agencies and Jewish nursing homes that accept medicaid 2) Ensure $60 billion of the emergency relief through loans and loan guarantees is directly set aside for the nonprofit sector; and 3) Increase the Nonprofit Charitable Contribution Deduction as much as possible. Dear Senator,
I am involved in our local Jewish community and I want to thank you for your leadership during this time of crisis. As you know, nonprofits across America, such as the Jewish Federations and Jewish human service agencies, provide food, medicine, and other basic needs to hundreds of thousands of people every day, regardless of faith, background or ability to pay. I am writing to ask for your continued support of this vital work, and that you try to improve the stimulus package by incorporating the following changes before it is adopted later this week: 1) Allow all public charities to participate in the Small Business Interruption Loan program — don’t exclude those agencies that accept Medicaid funds, which eliminates Jewish nursing homes and Jewish family service and workforce development agencies, and group homes for adults with disabilities; 2) Ensure that $60 billion of economic stabilization funds for emergency relief through loans and loan guarantees are specifically set aside for the nonprofit sector; and 3) Increase the Nonprofit Charitable Contribution Deduction as much as possible. We need you to ensure that our community continues to provide support to those that need it most during this public health crisis and beyond.
