21st Annual State of Indiana Holocaust Remembrance Program
Friday, November 15, 2019, 12pm at the Indiana State House
For over two decades, the JCRC has partnered with the Indiana Civil Rights Commission to plan Indiana’s official Holocaust memorial program. In recent years, we’ve expanded that partnership to include the Federation’s department of Jewish education. This year’s program will coincide with Kristallnacht, which will provide an important opportunity to raise awareness for this catalytic event that demonstrates how the Holocaust began with words and the silence of bystanders. Local Jewish community member, Ernie Lorch, will speak about his experience surviving Kristallnacht. We will hear from state dignitaries, conduct a candle lighting ceremony, and also highlight the creative expressions of several middle school students. Following the program, all members of the community are invited to read the names of those who perished during the Holocaust.
