Passover Greeting from Consul General Aviv Ezra

Shalom everyone,

I hope that this letter finds you and your family healthy and in positive spirits. As we conclude our third week of social distancing, please know that your friends in Israel are standing with you. This week’s display of an American flag projected on Tel Aviv’s city hall is just one small gesture that demonstrates our valued friendship and partnership.

As Passover approaches, I want to wish you and yours chag sameach. While this year might be far from what we are familiar with, I am in awe of how our community has come together for one another. We are truly better together, whether it be virtually or in person. As we know, Passover is one of the many stories in the Jewish tradition that shows our perseverance and resilience as a people. This year is no different.

Passover is also the story of the connection between the people and the land, and even though this year we in the Midwest are physically separated from the Jewish homeland in Israel, we are more connected than ever through innovation, tikkun olam, prayer, and spirit. While we are celebrating 72 years of the modern connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel, the Jewish people’s connection to the land of Israel really goes back more than 3,000 years. This is an unbreakable and timeless bond.

Next year in Jerusalem my friends!

Stay healthy,
Aviv Ezra
Consul General
